Katie has a degree in Early Childhood Education and Child Development. For much of her career she has worked as a "fixer," hired to revamp failing preschool and religious education programs. Her solutions have included not only writing new curricula and designing materials, but also reorganizing and improving dark cluttered spaces to make the school environment clean, colorful, safe and attractive. Her passion for reworking and designing spaces includes projects such as an Arlington County preschool, Catholic Church Ministry Center, Children's Chapel, religious education classrooms, a Hudson River condo, a Fairfax County senior apartment, and her grandson's nursery. Katie lives in Arlington County with her husband. She is the mom of four and the grandmother of three. Besides improving personal spaces, her hobbies include long distance walking, hiking, and basketball.
